What is Orangetheory Fitness? Why We Love It and You Will Too

As an entrepreneur, your health is critical to your success in business. You need energy and stamina to run a round-the-clock business.

But the problem for most business owners is time. How can you take the time to exercise when the needs of your business are neverending?

Many business owners have found a solution in Orangetheory, which aims to help busy people to get in tip-top shape with minimal time investment.

So, what is Orangetheory?

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about this exercise haven for entrepreneurs.

1. What is Orangetheory?

As an entrepreneur, you are used to maximizing your time. You know how important it is to get things done in less time.

To that end, Orangetheory maximizes the time you spend working out.

With most gyms, you work out different muscle groups on different days. For example, you may hit your legs on Monday, back and arms on Tuesday, and so on. Over the course of the week, you will work out your whole body once, or maybe twice if you work out daily.

Orangetheory is a unique gym that provides a full-body workout in 60 minutes. So if you exercise at the gym five times a week, you’re working out your entire body five times, one hour at a time. This allows you to achieve fitness goals faster with less time in the gym.

Here’s how it works:

You will work out with a group, with each workout focusing on endurance, strength and power. No two workouts are the same as the instructors create new workouts every day. You’ll use treadmills, TRX straps, kettlebells, hand weights and more to get in the “Orange Zone,” which is your ultimate metabolic heart rate zone.

The goal of every workout is to achieve EPOC, or Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption. You may hear people at Orangetheory refer to it as “afterburn.” The idea is to exercise a high energy level so your body creates an oxygen deficit. Once you’ve completed your exercise, your body will continue to burn calories as it restores your normal energy and oxygen levels.

The beauty of it is that EPOC can last up to 36 hours, meaning you are burning calories long after you’ve left the gym.

2. Pricing

Your membership rate will depend on your location. But in general, Orangetheory offers different membership packages which range in price. For example, the Basic Membership is $59 per month for four classes. The Elite Membership gets you eight classes for $99 per month. Those wanting unlimited classes want the Premier Membership for $159 per month.

The cost is higher than some other gyms but it’s important to note you are working with a group trainer for full-body interval workouts.

3. Features

Here’s a couple of cool things that make Orangetheory unique.

Every Orangetheory studio across the nation does the exact same workout every day. That means, if you are travelling, you can go to a new location and know you will be getting a workout you haven’t seen before.

Also, your heart rate is continuously monitored and is visible to yourself and everyone on the monitors in front of the gym. You can easily see your heart rate and it gets your competitive juices going.

While no one is outwardly competing against each other, you will naturally try to improve your heart rate when you see others doing well. In truth, your competition is with yourself as you try to achieve personal bests.

Lastly, you will find that your workout peers are friendly and supportive. You will instantly notice a feeling of community where participants become friends. When it comes to achieving your fitness goals, it’s important to have people who support you and drive you to keep going.

The Bottom Line

If you like interval training in a group setting, you will enjoy Orangetheory. Fitness programming is creative and designed to surprise your body every day as you improve your overall fitness.

Hopefully, you are no longer asking “what is Orangetheory?”  Simply put, this new gym provides the best way to do more total-body workouts each week. The workouts are hard, but they only last 60 minutes.

Then you can get back to your day with renewed focus and energy to attack your business goals.
